  2. GROUPS We can classify mammals into 3 groups by the way that they reproduce • Monotremes • Marsupials • Placental mammals

  3. MONOTERMS Monotremes don’t give birth . They lay eggs.The young grow inside the eggs . They are quite well-developed when they come out .

  4. MARSUPIALS The young grow inside their mother´s body , but they aren´t well-developed when they are born . They must continue to develop inside their mother´s puch .

  5. PLACENTAL MAMMALS They are the most numerous group of mammals. The young grow inside the mother´s body. They are well-developed when they are born.

  6. HUMANS BEGINS We are placental mammals . We also are members of the primate family , along with chimpanzees and gorillas . We also share this characteristics with them . • We have fingers that we can use to manipulate objets . • Our eyes are at the front of our head . So we can see straight ahead . • We are different because we are bipedal . That means that we walk on two legs .

  8. PLATYPUS Most platypus live in Australia, others live in Tasmania . Their body is covered with dense, brown fur that traps a layer of insulating air to keep the animal warm . They are carnivores .
