  2. A brief retrospect of ECDay 2012 • In 2012 European Cooperation Day was organised for the first time • The campaign to celebrate the achievements of European Territorial Cooperation • The campaign was coordinated by INTERACT Project

  3. A brief retrospect of ECDay 2012 • 70 programmes organised events: • 42 Cross-border programmes • 7 Transnational programmes • 8 IPA CBC programmes • 11 ENPI CBC programmes • 2 networking programmes • 281 local events across Europe • Events took place across 36 countries

  4. A brief retrospect of ECDay 2012 Estonia-Latvia-Russia ENPI CBC: • 6 Promotional Projects • 3 Flagship Stories • 3 Key Actions (one per participating country) • 32 Local Actions • 25 Projects Participating

  5. European Cooperation Day 2013 • When: Friday 21 September but the actions could be started before and/or extended afterwards • Where: Everywhere in Europe and in the EU’s partner countries The campaign carries the slogan “Sharing borders, growing closer”

  6. ECDay 2013 Uniqueness • Local actions and European media event, together, make up European Cooperation Day • What makes local actions part of one single umbrella event? They share: • A common, broad concept; • A common, broadly-defined target; • A common brand and visual identity; • Common dissemination tools.

ECDay 2013 strategic features • Goals: To improve the visibility of cross border and territorial cooperation; to disseminate its outcomes; to show its impacts on quality of life. • Important enough to attract media: All events are on the same days, in all of the areas of the participating programmes. • Innovative enough to attract citizens. • Local approach proves relevance of cross border and territorial cooperation: Local success stories in the corresponding local languages, and local spokespeople

  8. ECDay 2013 creative concept • New ”face” of the campaign for 2013: - based on the photomaton style • Non-verbal ways of saying ”I am partof it” • Trailer for this year will be based on photomaton images

ECDay 2013 creative concept Media products by Interact: • General press releases on the campaign possible schedule: 1st press release in July and 2nd in September • NO additional press pack(photo material from last year) • Booklet on ETC and ENPI stories for distribution will be available in magazine format online • Five short videos on ETC stories • General trailer video • Exhibition at the Kick-off event in Strasbourg with stories from programmes and photos in the overall campaign style

Visual identity and promotional products • Like last year, the style of the print and online promotional products share the creative concept of the videos • All products will be available in open formats so that you can customise your materials and translate texts • Logo will no longer include the year so you can use your materials (e.g. rollups) for years to come • A Style Guide will help you implement the visual identity into all aspects of your local event

ECDay local events Keep in mind the Goal: to raise awareness for territorial cooperation within the population and to attract media interest! • There is no compulsory type of local action. • Combine several types of actions and events into one. • Join forces: cooperate with other projects and organise a joint action or the same type of action in different places. • European Cooperation Day can also be organised within the framework of a larger (e.g. national) event, in order to draw even more media attention.

ECDay local events Where: Local actions can be held in one or several place(s) of the programme area – select a place that best represents the programme area • the border (land or sea border), • a bridge, • a cross-border conurbation, • the highest mountain in the transnational area, • the central point of the transnational area (it could even be a small village), • a place which has benefitted from programme support (cross-border business park, natural park, university, etc.). Get creative!

ESTLATRUS ECDay 2013 plans Proposals to INTERACT booklet to be published featuring a selection of ENPI CBC, ETC and IPA CBC projects from the 2007-2013 programming period: • Hansa Story - From historical Hanseatic pearl – Riga along Via Hanseatica to Saint-Petersburg; • Narva-Ivangorod - Development of unique Narva-Ivangorod fortresses ensemble and Surrounding Area; • GreenMan - Solving joint problems related to green areas management in Pskov, Tartu and Rēzekne targeting increasing percentage of greenery of the total city area and restoration or replacement of trees in in city parks, gardens and forests.

Feature story EU Neighbourhood Info Centre Feature story „Creating access to the art of photography for young people with disabilities“: Photo Youth project (bilateral Project of ESTLATRUS Programme (Latvian Lead partner and 4 partners in Russia). Experience exchange with teachers and students. Organisation of joint summer camp for the children working in open air. Create project portal, where people with special needs also the ones who doesn’t participate in the project can exchange experience about taking photos, share photos, network, print a photobook.

  20. New Flagship Stories (tbc) • GreenMan - Project addresses cross border dimension of sustainable management of green areas (GA) in most populated cities in EE-LV-RU border area: Tartu, Rēzekne, Pskov; • LSP Common Peipsi - Economically and environmentally sustainable Lake Peipsi Area; • People with Nature - The main objective of the project is to unite ideas, capacity and tools for improvement of nature education situation and so awareness of the society on sustainable development and integrated nature conservation in the project region of territories of Estonia, Latvia and Russia.

  21. Key Actions (tbc) • Public tree (birch) planting; • National cuisine of the other country; • National music of the other country.

  22. Key Actions (tbc) Key Actions will be organised in all participating countries (Estonia, Latvia and Russia) with three key elements of each Key Action in mixed way to gain benefit from other cultures. All Projects will be invited to join these actions.

  23. Local Actions (tbc) • Local public tree planting or other activities proposed by projects; • Providing information about the ECDay and ETC/ENPI CBC for the students and Promotion of future ENI during public lectures at the universities ( as a part of Joint ENPI event in Russia and optional for other Estonia-Latvia-Russia-projects); • Possibility to exploit existing/agreed events, conferences or forums that would suit for the purposes of joint action and under the ECDay 2013 campaign.

ESTLATRUS promotional items (tbc) Visuality • Reflectors (Reflecting blue + white contours attachable with the thread) – round or square – 3000 – 5000; • Small balloons – Reflecting Blue with white print - 3000; • Paper flags (small) – 1000. Presents&Visuality – 200 items • Take Away cup – light blue covers; • Small national musical instrument – Latvian, Estonian, Russian (whistle of each country with hand made Logo is possible (50 items of each country) • Fleece vests – dark blue (thin) with both logos (contures).
