Co Pt Co Fcc (111) textured Co/Pt multilayer Perpendicular STT Oscillator Chia-Ling Chien, Johns Hopkins University, DMR 0520491 Background Spin transfer torque (STT) oscillator with perpendicularly magnetized electrodes offers much superior performance characteristics comparing to in-plane STT oscillators. This Work (Scientific and Technological Interests) We have fabricated a STT device with perpendicularly magnetized electrodes made of Co/Pt multilayer and demonstrated STT driven magnetization switching. We are in the process of integrating a in-plane GMR reader with the perpendicular STT oscillator so that oscillation can be directly detected as voltage signal.
