  2. Lesson Objectives • To have a case study of how an NGO can help in a LEDC country • To understand the advantages and limitations of Aid • To complete a decision making exercise. Economic Development

  3. Water Aid in Mali • Using a case study in exam questions is a skill. • Just like English we use P.E.E!!!! • There are some very basic rules to follow.

  4. Rules – for 4 and 6 mark questions 1. Location, Location – give place name, country, continent first. 2. Describe what the ‘thing’ is or in this case what has been done USING as many geog key words as possible. 3. Give both sides of argument or talk about the advantages and disadvantages PEE!!! 4. Don’t waffle, stick to the point!!! 5. You can use bullet points as long as you explain each point. 4. Conclude – Sum up or say overall whether it is good or bad. Remember this is not as easy as it looks!

  5. Success Criteria • We are going to create a case study on Mali by completing the activities on page 167. • Questions 1, 2, and 3 are all worth 2 marks each. • Question 4 (a,b,c,d) are worth 4 marks each. • Question 5 and 6 are worth 6 marks each.

  6. How well would you do in a real exam??? • Close your books – On the piece of paper you have 9 minutes to answer the following question. Case Study: An aid project in an LEDC Name and Locate the Project_________________ Describe the main features of the project. Explain how the project is sustainable. • Now Swap and read each others, out of 8 marks how much would you give them???

  7. How well have you done? Yes! I have understood fully and have made good progress. I have done ok but I am still unsure of some of it. Help! I don’t understand it. Economic Development
