The Origin of surname „Drăculea“ and his nickname „Ţepeş“(the Impaler) • His father, Vlad the II-nd Dracul, joined the DragonOrder,something similar to the Malta Chivalry ,and his son Vlad the III-rd prefered to sign the documents with this surname.
He gained the name Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) because his favourite method of punishing his enemies, impaling on a wooden stake.
Vlad the Ruler • Vlad III ruled Wallachia three times in the XV-th century. • Vlad was known beyond Wallachia's borders as a feared fighter against the Turks and a ruthless ruler.
Real facts • He is seen by Romanians as a national hero, credited by historians as a key figure in the evolution of the country's independence from The Turkish Empire.
Images abroad • He is seen in a leaque with the Devil by the Saxons, Turkish and Germans in the 15-16th century, • He is seen cruel but just by the Russians.
The end of true story… • He was asasinated indecember1476. His body was beheaded and the head was sent to the Sultan, who put it in a pole. It is thought that „Drăculea“ would be buried at SnagovMonastery…
