  14. All Western New York SUNY Institutions are members of the Western New York Library Resource Council (WNYLRC), Issue InfoPasses, and lend to InfoPass users. Really?

  15. This means that UB Students, Staff, and Faculty can borrow at WNY Non-SUNY Libraries, and Students, Staff, and Faculty of WNY Non-SUNY Libraries can borrow at UB. No way…

  16. SUNY borrowing policies alwaysoverride any other borrowing program! So… SUNY Students, Staff, and Faculty always borrow under Open Access!

  27. Work Station Access The Yellow Work Station Access Application Form is used for any patron who wants to access University Libraries’ online catalog using a BISON Work Station

  28. Complete a WSA Form Photo ID Expires in One Year Yellow WSA Card Patrons may not Borrow any library materials with a Work Station Access Card

  33. 4. A patron explains that she is a professor at Buffalo State College. Is she entitled to borrowing privileges at UB? • Yes, under Open Access.

  34. 5. A patron explains that he is a student at Erie Community College and wishes to check out a book. Is he entitled to borrowing privileges at UB? • Yes, under Open Access. • Campus affiliation?

  35. 6. A patron explains that she is affiliated with D’Youville College and asks if she may borrow books at UB. How do you answer? • Yes. Do you have an InfoPass Card?

  36. 7. A patron explains that he graduated from UB in 1997 and asks to borrow a book. How do you answer? • Are you a current member of a UB Alumni Association? • Are you affiliated with a WNY college or library? • Would you like to become a Friend of University Libraries? • Perhaps your employer would benefit from our Corporate Borrower program.

  37. 8. A patron asks if she may borrow a US Government Document. How do you answer? • Yes. Let me refer you to someone who is authorized to issue you a Government Documents Borrower Card.

  38. 9. A patron wishes to check out a book at Lockwood Library and presents a Special Courtesy Borrower Card issued by the Law Library. What do you do? • Your borrowing privileges are limited to the Law Library, but you are welcome to use this library’s resources from within this library.

  39. 11. A patron explains that he wants to check out a book, but is not affiliated with UB or any institution that has a borrowing arrangement with UB. How do you answer? • I am sorry that we are unable to extend borrowing privileges, but you are welcome to use this library’s resources from within this library. • Do you know about our Friends of University Libraries program?

  40. 12. A Non-UB affiliated user asks if she may have access to a computer to check her email. How do you answer? • Yes. I will be happy to issue you a Work Station Access Card.

  41. 13. A UB affiliated user asks you if he can borrow a book at Niagara County Community College. How do you answer? • Yes. Simply present your UB Card at the Circulation Desk at NCCC’s library.

  42. 14. A UB affiliated user asks you if he can borrow a book at Daemen College. How do you answer? • Yes. Let me refer you to someone who is authorized to issue you an InfoPass.
