  6. What we are reading today • 2.1.234-307 • Iago convinces Roderigo that Desdemona is in love with Cassio and enlists his aid in causing Cassio’s dismissal from his post as Othello’s lieutenant • 2.1.308-34 • Iago fine tunes his plot against Othello

  7. Round Robin Reading • 2.1.426-314 I drew cards again • Iago 1- Eeshan • Iago 2- Gino • Iago 3 - Kris • Roderigo- Aaron • Roderigo is at first astonished when Iago tells him that Desdemona is in love with Cassio. How does he convince him?

  8. Soliloquy 2.1.314-340 • Iago 1 Lizzie • Iago 2 Tyler • What does Iago mean when he says “Now, I do love her too” • Do you believe Iago when he says “I fear Cassio with my nightcap too” • Compare Iago’s soliloquy here with the one you summarized in 1.3. (Thus do I make my fool my purse”

  9. Individually in your journals • Choose a character that you are most interested in following through the rest of the play. Choose from Othello, Desdemona, or Iago • Choose any scene we have read thus far and imagine you are playing one of the roles. • Review the lines in the scene • Figure out your character’s objective in the scene • Figure out your character’s Superobjective for the play as a whole • Explain which lines (and cite line numbers) that tips off the objective • Describe your character.
