  2. SECURE COMMUNICATIONS • Necessary for tactical operations • Provided through KY-58 for FM-1, FM-2 , and UHF (Have Quick) • KY-58 provides voice encryption • FM-1, FM-2, and UHF (Have Quick) provide frequency hopping capabilities • Together they provide SECURE COMMS

THE SETUP • Load the KY-58 with comsec data from an ANCD • zero KY-58 • power up ANCD and select RADIO • select SEND • select ABN • YES load comsec to a KY-58 • connect ANCD to KY-58 or remote fill panel and follow instructions • when complete, set KY-58 mode switches to C and OP and key radio… you should hear a beep

THESETUP CONT’ • LoadFrequency Hopping (FH)data from an ANCD to an FM radio • power up ANCD and select RADIO • select SEND • select RADIO • select ABN • NO for loading comsec data into KY-58 • YES for loading airborne radio • connect ANCD and follow instructions • after completion of FH data load, set time

SET TIME • Set time for FREQUENCY HOPPING on FM-1 or FM-2 • function selector to LOAD • mode selector to [FH-M] • press TIME • press CLEAR • input last two numbers of Julian Date • press STO • press TIME • press CLR • input upcoming ZULU TIME and on mark press STO • press TIME • ensure time is within FOUR SECONDS of hack in order to freq hop • set switches to operational configuration

  6. SYNCING TIME • You can sync your clock with the net if it off by more than four but less than 60 seconds • function selector to LOAD • press SYNC (note LFXXX displayed in window) • wait for some one to transmit • If your clock is off by more 60 seconds then reset clock manually

REMOTE FILL PANEL • LOCATED ON LOWER CENTER CONSOLE ON PILOT’S SIDE • ALLOWS SINGLE CREW MEMBER TO LOAD COMSEC VARIABLES INTO EACH OF THE THREE KY-58’s AS WELL AS FH DATA INTO THE FM RADIOS --GPS UHF-- ----TRANSEC / HOPSET---- SA / AS -----------------------KY-58 COMSEC--------------------------- ---FM2--- ---FM1---
