  1. Indo-European Languages By: Payton, Morgan, Rob, Cristian, and Mackenzie

  2. Where, When, and Why? • Where: It originated in present day Turkey • When: Around 6500-4000 BCE. • Why: After migration and everybody settled down, they developed their own languages. The languages were mixed for the convenience of not having to learn every language to trade.

  3. General Info • Indo-European languages- Language bearing astonishing resemblances to one another in vocabulary and form and which are therefore related • An understood law stated that any language, once named an Indo-European language can have changes made to it so it resembles other Indo-European languages in some ways, but still keeps some of its original characteristics. • Indo-European languages were seen as a joke because mixing languages such as Sanskrit, Icelandic, and eventually the languages of gypsies was discouraged. • Though many languages were mixed, they usually were impeded by obstacles such as mountains, seas, and deserts. • So, the same two languages could be mixed on either side of a mountain, but that does not necessarily mean that both of the results will be the same.

  5. The Written Language • As you can see in the picture, the Indo-European languages were mostly made up of characters, but some did contain symbols.
