  3. What Is a Podcast? • A digital recording in MP3 format • A vodcast is video and audio in mp4 or Quicktime format • Uploaded to Bucks iTunes U • Automatic download to iTunes on computer or audio player • Users need iTunes account (free) to get/subscribe podcasts

  13. Headphone Connection • 1. Plug in headset/mic before start up • 2. Make sure mic is turned on • 3. Make sure computer recognizes the headset: • Control Panel • Sounds & Devices • Hardware tab • Your Headset

  14. Sound Check Check that volume is not muted. Use media player to check that sound is playing with your computer default settings

  15. Record (PC or Mac) 1 2 Make sure you download the Download Audacity LAME mp3 Encorder http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download Save and unzip in Audacity folder

  16. Soundtrack • Red button to record • Yellow button to stop • Blue double bars to pause • This is a voice on a soundtrack • Editing tools can improve recording

  17. MP3 Export Setup • Edit- Preferences • File Formats tab • Find Library Button File Export as MPs Browse for LAME encoder: File saves as WAV. Encoder allows export as MP3

  19. BCCC iTunesU • Subscribe to iTunes - free • Upload your podcast to Bucks iTunesU site • Students subscribe to BCCC iTunesU site • Podcast “pushed” to computer/ iPod player • MP3 files can also be uploaded directly into BB Vista

  23. Tips for a Podcaster • Target instructional goals • Script your program • Introduce self, program • Instruct on how students should use your podcast (listen, memorize, activity) • Keep it simple • Keep it short • Be yourself • Make content integral to your course.
