  2. Vaccine Choice HB448 requires vaccine choice in Texas Vaccines for Children and Adult Safety Net programs by September 1, 2010 • Provider Choice Statistics • Electronic Vaccine Inventory System • Flu Update

Provider Choice Selections • Online survey and paper began May 2010. • Providers choose by by July 31, 2010. • Providers that did not wish to choose vaccines had the option to pick from a list of default vaccines. • Providers that did not choose vaccines by the deadline would be automatically assigned a set of default vaccines.

  4. Choice Survey Overview • Total Providers = 3,750 • 87% completed survey, 13% assigned • Pediatric Vaccines = 3,507 • Adult Vaccines = 434 • Some providers may be both adult and pediatric vaccine providers.

  9. Electronic Vaccine Inventory (EVI) System Development Phase I Activities (available by September 1, 2010) Phase II Activities (Estimated September 1 - December 31, 2010)

  10. Phase I Activities: Providers (available by September 1, 2010) • Providers will have the ability to: • update demographic information online • input current inventory online • order their chosen vaccines online • access online help • access provider online training

Phase I Activities: LHD/HSR • Local Health Departments/Health Service Regions will have the ability to: • access the provider demographic, order and inventory information online • perform quality assurance activities online • Approve and adjust orders online • Assist providers with look-up information • Limit provider access • access administrative user online training

Phase II Activities (Estimated September 1 - December 31, 2010) • Provider submission of monthly vaccine accounting information online (currently paper) • online reporting capabilities for LHD/HSR/Austin office • EVI-generated fax and email communication • EVI-generate provider recommended orders based on seasonal trends
