  3. Introduction of Explorer Henry Hudson wanted to find a northern sea route between Europe and Asia. If he succeeded he would have found a way to buy the precious items in Asia without traveling through land, because they cannot get there by land.

  4. What Country Sponsored the Explorer • Sponsoring country? Henry Hudson was sponsored by the Netherlands, who spoke Dutch. • What opportunity cost were incurred by the exploration? When he went on his last voyage, his choices were to go and die , or to turn back home. He chose to go on the voyage, and he lost his life that day.

  6. Map of expedition 1 • He left from England going south west. • He landed on the east coast of New Jersey, New York, and Hudson Bay. • Ice blocks threw him off track and he could not recover.

  7. Voyage 2 • He left in1610 from England. • He landed in New York. • He traveled on land in New Jersey , New York, and Delaware Bay. • He also traveled all the way down the east Coast. • He got on a ship called the Half Moon to get across the ocean.

  8. Map of Expedition (2) • Strong head winds, storms, and got blocked by icebergs. The storms drew them of track. • The crew threw Henry Hudson off the ship with a smaller boat, for letting the big boat freeze. (The crew threw him out on Hudson Bay.)

  9. Settlement Struggles or Accomplishments in the New Land • Henry Hudson discovered 3 North American water ways. • The three water ways he discovered were soon named after him. They are Hudson River, Hudson Bay, and Hudson Straight. • He was in a struggle when he was thrown over board by his crew members in 1611.

  10. Early life of Explorer • Henry Hudson was born in 1565 in England. • Never seen again in 1611 6-22 because he was thrown over board by his crew members.

  11. Later Life of Explorer He died in1611 on June 22 when his crew members threw him over board, on a little boat. With 7 loyal crew members and his son.

  12. Cooperation or Conflict with Native Americans • The Indians shot at the crew and Henry Hudson, because they were mad at them. They were shooting at their stern. • The natives attacked them while they were at Hudson Bay.

  13. Conclusion(life skills used) Henry Hudson used the life -skill of courage when he had to travel across the Atlantic Ocean. Another life-skill he used was patience because going across the Atlantic Ocean, is not very fast. One last life-skill he used was flexibility, because of when the storm hit his ship, and he got stuck in the ice. He had to change his plans.
