  1. Bernina Activa 125 Sewing Machine

  2. Bobbin Round metal spool which holds the bottom thread.

  3. Bobbin Case Holds the bobbin and regulates bottom tension

  4. Needle Stitch Plate The place where seam allowance guides are located.

  5. Feed Dogs Teeth that move the fabric through the machine.

  6. Presser Foot Holds the fabric in place while you sew.

  7. Presser Foot Lifter Raises and lowers the presser foot.

  8. Needle Carries the thread and pierces the fabric.

  9. Needle Clamp Holds the needle in place.

  10. Reverse Button Creates backstitching to keep seams from coming apart.

  11. Needle Stop Up/Down Makes it so that the needle stops in the desired position.

  12. ½ Speed Button Allows the machine to sew at half of the normal speed

  13. Thread Take Up Lever Pulls thread from the spool.

  14. Bobbin Pretension Provides tension on the thread while winding a bobbin.

  15. Upper Thread Tension Controls the tightness on the thread.

  16. Screen Displays information about sewing machine settings

  17. Stitch Length Buttons Sets the length of stitches.

Hint: Each line on the seam allowance guide is 1/8”

  28. Reverse Stitch Button!! Press the Reverse button at the beginning and end of each seam • Whenever you sew a permanent seam, you need to secure your seam • Backstitching is the most common way to secure your seam, so that your project won’t fall apart
