What is the Sunderland Compact? • An agreement between organisations of the Sunderland Partnership and VCS organisations • Based on the existing national Compact • Volunteering • Voluntary and Community Groups • Funding and Procurement • Consultation and Policy Appraisal • Older People • Disabilities • Other Equalities codes under development

  3. What’s the purpose of the Sunderland Compact? • To improve partnership working by: • Building trust • Improving quality • Increasing efficiency • Improved outcomes for citizens • Recognises the unique contribution of individual partners • Local flexibility

  4. What’s been happening? • Final development and consultation • Sunderland Partnership endorsement – June 2008 • Partner sign up • 255 organisations received invite letters directly from the Sunderland Partnership • Widely distributed through CVS and SCN • 52 organisations signed up and many more have indicated their intention to sign up • Good practice and building relationships • Collaborative working

What are the next steps? • Increasing awareness & sign up of the Compact • E-learning / training • Promotion • Action Planning and compliance • Accountability mechanisms • Linking with National Indicators • NI6 Increasing Volunteering • NI7 Thriving Third Sector • NI4 Ability to influence decisions in your locality
