Team Members • Lee Farrow • Enoch Lee • Nelya McKenzie • Tyler Peterson • Matt Ragland • Kate Simmons • Pam Tidwell auburnmontgomery
Our Objectives • Identify 3-5 existing or potential academic programs that would enhance the academic quality of program offerings at AUM • Document AUM’s strengths and opportunities regarding the programs identified • Develop and plan and budget for developing these programs auburnmontgomery
What is a Program of Distinction? • National/International Recognition • Faculty, Students and Graduates • High Demand • Attractive to Students • Strong Interactions with Industry, Business, Government and/or organizations • Growing record of extramural funding auburnmontgomery
Why does this matter? • AUM does not have a modern array of programs • AUM has room to grow by adding/expanding programs that will attract students, and enhance our reputation and funding possibilities auburnmontgomery
Considerations • Projected Job Growth(Bureau of Labor Statistics) • AUM’s 2013-2018 Strategic Plan • Research conducted by Hanover • Conversations with Deans and Faculty members auburnmontgomery
Our Focus • Identify one Existing Academic program that meets most of the criteria for a program of distinction(POD) • Identify one area that with additional resources could become a POD • Identify a new program whose addition would create a “dynamic and applied academic and research program” auburnmontgomery

GIS • Justification • Potential for growth as no other programs in the area would compete auburnmontgomery
GIS • Recommendation • An undergraduate degree program in GIS strategically designed to build to a Master’s level program auburnmontgomery
GIS • Budget Needs • Physical Lab needs • Systems upgrade • 2 Assistant Professors • Graduate Assistantship • TOTAL = $302,950 • Upgrade could be done in stages auburnmontgomery
