  2. Georgia’s Bridge Bill • The General Assembly of Georgia enacted the BRIDGE Act House Bill 400 on May 20, 2010. This act was passed to ensure that Georgia’s 6th -12th grade students are aware of available career and postsecondary education options. • In other words, it is a law, and it pertains to YOU.

  3. Why did Georgia pass this law? First reason …. The Changing U.S. Workforce Unskilled 15% Skilled 20% Skilled 65% Unskilled 60% Professional 20% Professional 20% 2007 1950 National Summit on 21st Century Skills for 21st Century Jobs

Second Reason • To increase the graduation rate, decrease the drop- out rate, and increase postsecondary enrollment rate. • Georgia wants to make sure all their students have a career plan. • The goal is yours! We want to make sure that you have all the information necessary to reach your goal.

  5. When will I do this? • Ninth graders on PSAT day. Upperclassmen in an assigned computer lab during advisement. • These requirements will be a part of your Wolverine Wednesday activities. • Students will receive their portfoliousername and password from advisementteacheronce available. • Your Career Cruising account can be accessed from home so incomplete activities may be finished from home, BYLD, or media center.

  6. Bridge Bill 9th Grade - Expectations • Have an electronic portfolio using Career Cruising. www.careercruising.com. All information is saved here in your account. • Exploring and saving six occupations in your career portfolio. (6 total careers) • CREATE a four-year individual graduation plan • Parent participation in regular advisement session Complete on PSAT Day!

All information is saved here in your account. • Review a powerpoint on awareness of “College Credit Now” programs: Dual Enrollment, Joint Enrollment, Articulation and AP classes. • UPDATEfour-year individual graduation plan started last school year. • Parent participation in regular advisement session

  8. Bridge Bill 11th Grade - Expectations • Have an electronic portfolio using Career Cruising. www.careercruising.com. All information is saved here in your account • Make the connection between school and work by exploring and saving in their portfolios at least three possible choices of postsecondary institutions that match their Individual Graduation Plan. • UPDATEfour-year individual graduation plan started last school year. • Parent participation in regular advisement session 4 year college Technical Training 2 year college Military

All information is saved here in your account. • Identify your next step: college, military, apprenticeship, workforce (self reported) in career cruising. Let us know what you are doing. We will miss you!

  10. Will this count towards the school credit? • YES! • You must complete the various Wolverines Wednesday quizzes in Edmodo AND your Bridge Bill assignments by grade level in Career Cruising.

  11. Bridge Bill Our GOAL…….. 100% Completion Rate for all grade levels! WE CAN DO THIS BECAUSE We Are Woodstock!
