  3. February 2010 • Item Review of over 2500 Items by DOE, District and Charter School personnel • Completed School Readiness Training and Plan delivery to over 1000 school and district personnel. (Certificates have been mailed) • Completed Focus groups in all three counties for reporting feedback. • Completed data exchange with vendor to provide institution and student data. DCAS -- FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

March 2010 • DCAS Portal Release – March 8, 2010 • DCAS Applications Released – March 17, 2010 • Test Administrator Certification Training Test • Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) • Test Administrator Training Site • Student Training Test • DCAS Elluminate Sessions • Nine sessions completed over 100 individuals and groups participated on a weekly basis. DCAS -- FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

STATISTICS • DOE Single Sign-on Accounts • An additional 3000 user accounts were created in DDOESSO for access to DCAS • Over 9000 individuals throughout the State of Delaware now have access to DCAS. • Number of certified teachers • 2,905 out of 9,084 users (includes all user types) have been trained.  • 2,275 out of 6,358 TARs (Test administrator with reporting user rights) have been trained • 204 out of 1,138 TAs (Test administrators) have been trained • Number of student training tests • 4181 tests have been accessed and 3396 were completed. DCAS USAGE

  6. Two components for training test: • Interactive Tutorial for Graphic Response items. (This should be completed first) • Student Training Test • Training tests are designed in grade bands: • Elementary School • Middle School • High School • Student training test can only be accessed • DCAS Secure Browser – student can log in as a guest or within test session using student id, firstname and test sessionid . • Mozilla Firefox browser – only required if using guest account on a computer without the secure browser installed DCAS Student Training Test

What student training test was designed to do: • These questions can be read to the students in a group, these are not secure items. • Students should use the computer they will be testing on during the field test • This includes using mouse or touch pad • This test is only to get the student familiar with the test delivery system. It is not scored and students are not required to answer the questions correctly. DCAS Student Training Test

  8. What student training test was designed to do: • It is just to “train” them on how to use the new system. • Provide students with a representative sample of all items types that they will see on field test. • Get students familiar with the test delivery system. DCAS Student Training Test

  9. Updated Information: • Postpone the implementation of the End of Course (Integrated Math I, Algebra I, English II, Biology) for one year • Administer a High School Assessment in Math, English and Science at the 10th grade in SY2010 for accountability purposes End-of-Course Update -

  10. Why? • Currently do not require those specific courses so cannot meet the AYP participation requirement. Will make the regulatory changes necessary. • Districts/schools and students can benefit from time to plan for the change to an EOC structure • Result is more time to integrate the Common Core standards and other changes End-of-Course Update -

Revised DCAS Components in the Field Test SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS MATH AND READING in grades 3 through 8 and 10SCIENCE in grades 5 and 8 and 10SOCIAL STUDIES in grades 4 and 7Postponed for one year -- End of Course (EOC) in Algebra I, Integrated Math I, English II, Biology. Going forward, development of all EOC will be on the same schedule, including U.S. HistoryBENCHMARK ASSESSMENTSREADING and MATH in grades 2-10All delivered via WEB-BASED ON LINE DELIVERY

DCAS Definitions COMPUTER ADAPTIVE TESTING (CAT) A method of testing SUMMATIVE for 2010-2011 (Test) (3-8 and 10 Read/Math, 5 and 8 and 10 Science, 4 and 7 and 10, Social Studies ) • Only on-grade assessment • Intended for student, school and district accountability • Basis for Federal AYP calculations and reporting BENCHMARK for 2010-2011 (Test) (2-10 Read/Math) • Both on-grade and off-grade assessment • Intended to provide useful, timely information for use in the classroom to improve instruction

  13. We are requesting districts and schools not train or allow students to enter comments. Don’t use STUDENT COMMENTS please • Only for a question that they really have issues. • Through use of training test reviews, it has been determined it causes to much of a distraction for students. Number of Certifications completed already provided • Must get certificate or will not show has completed • If don’t read manual, please make sure they do, as this contains the script for field test sessions. • DOE will provide updated list end of next week for all individuals by district who have completed certification training. • Report does not download the “Y” trained flag. Vendor is working on update. Test Administrator Certification

  16. All users returned for one more batch processing have been processed • Districts will now be required update any outstanding DDOESSO accounts that need DCAS access • Several issues with security role assignments have been identified and addressed. DDOESSO Updates
