Updates of the Moment • December Meeting (Assessment Design and Development for Grades 3-8) • Emerging recommendation in ELA/Literacy to assess writing through the context of reading rather than in isolation with scores reported separately • Emphasis on importance of grade level sequencing of mathematics content • Expression by states of desire to move up development of model curriculum frameworks to inform test development

Updates of the Moment • Upcoming February Meeting • Meet with Higher Education representatives to: • identify the core competencies that measure the skills students need to master to be successful in entry-level credit-bearing courses • begin to discuss and describe key design principles and performance expectations for high school assessments that will measure college readiness

  4. Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) • Consists of 15 nationally recognized experts in large-scale assessment • Chosen based on following criteria: • Ph.D. and multiple years of experience in educational measurement or related field • Significant publication record in issues relevant to large scale assessment • Membership on multiple TACs and expert panels • Committed to exploring innovative approaches in educational measurement • Approved by Governing Board States
