  12. Course Description • The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the basics of systems administration. Topics included are best practices for system administration, overview of network operating systems, fundamentals of UNIX/Linux and Windows system administration, system integrity, and system security.

  13. Outline • Course Overview: • What is System Administration? Why do we need to study this course in BBA? Types of Computer Systems, Computer Users and Operating Systems. • Components of a Business System: • What is Information Processing? Input and output devices, Overview of Bar code reader, MICR, POS, ATM, RFID, Biometric Systems, FAX, Printer, Computer Servers, Workstations, Network. • Case Study: • To analyze the responsibilities of the System Administrator a Case Study of a bank, stock exchange or any other business sector will be covered.

  14. Outline • Operating System: • Overview of OS, Types of OS. Concepts of Domain and Workgroup environment, recourse sharing in workgroup environment. • User Management: • creating users and groups, setting permission to access hardware and software resources. • File System: • FAT, NTFS, File Sharing, Hard Disk management, partitioning, Defragmentation, System Backup & Restoration. • Resource Sharing: • Sharing of different hardware resources like CD/DVD, Printer. Setting up Print Server, LAN Printer etc
