What is Cudi • Cudi is the Mexican education and research network • It is organized as a non profit corporation of universities and research centers, created in April 1999

Increase in membership • 15 Academic Associates (Major universities that jointly share network costs) • Have reached 9 Corporate Associates • Have a total of 68 universities that can use the network (an increase of 126% from a year ago)

Competition for the University market and Avantel • As Universities have started to request connectivity to the CUDI network, access to the backbone has become a critical market demand • Other carriers have requested access to the backbone in order to compete for the university market • Telmex has accepted interconnection of other carriers if they make an equivalent contribution to CUDI
