Circle This is a circle. All circles are round.
Circles A clock, a donut, a ring, coins, and bicycle tires are all examples of circles.
Square 1 2 4 3 This is a square. All squares have four sides. All four sides are the same length.
Squares A television screen, a computer screen, a window, a checker board, and floppy disks are all examples of squares.
Rectangle 1 4 2 3 This is a rectangle. All rectangles have four sides. Two of the sides are long and two of the sides are short.
Rectangles Paper, a door, a calculator, a ruler, and an envelope are all examples of rectangles.
Triangle 1 1 2 2 3 3 This is a triangle. All triangles have three angles and three sides. The three sides are not always the same length. The three angles are not always the same either.
Triangles A clothes hanger, a music triangle, a pool triangle, a slice of pizza, and a piece of cake are all examples of triangles.
Sphere This is a sphere. All spheres are round objects. All spheres will roll.
Spheres An orange, bubbles, marbles, balls, and a globe are all examples of spheres.
Cylinder These are cylinders. The bottom and top of all cylinders are circles. All cylinders will roll when we put them on their sides.
Cylinders A paint can, a trash can, a candle, a soda can, and a roll of toilet paper are all examples of cylinders.
Cube 3 6 2 5 1 4 These are cubes. All cubes have six sides that are the same size. Each side is a square.
Cubes ABC blocks, sugar cubes, a box, an ice cube, and dice are all examples of cubes.
Cone These are cones. All cones have a circle on one end and a point on the other end. All cones will roll when we put them on their sides.
Cones A gnome hat, a teepee, an ice cream cone, a witch hat, and a party hat are all examples of cones.
Now you know what circles, squares, rectangles, spheres, cylinders, cubes, and cones look like. Can you figure out what shapes are in a lollipop, an arrow, and a traffic light?
If you guessed that a circle and a cylinder make a lollipop, a rectangle and a triangle make an arrow, and a rectangle and three circles make a traffic light, you are correct!
As you have learned, shapes are all around you. Just look and see!!!
