Part 4 of David A Man After God’s Own Heart “God Who Delivered Me”1 Samuel 17
1 Samuel 17:32-37 32 Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” 33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.” 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”
Many times people will ask, “Why do bad things happen to good people.” Today I would like to spin this question a bit and ask, “Why do good things happen to God’s people?” Specifically, I would like to address the question of “Why does God deliver His people?”
Why Does God Deliver His People? • God Delivers Because It Displays His Glory • Psalm 118 & 136 • Ephesians 1:3-14 • Daniel 6:25-27 • God Delivers Because It Emboldens His People

The greatest act of God’s deliverance did not happen in the valley of Elah where David slew Goliath, but it happened a thousand years later when the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, came to earth and paid for mankind’s sin on the cross of Calvary. “ But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” Romans 5:8. Indeed, this heroic and divine act of deliverance is own that displays for the world God’s Glory, it emboldens God’s People and it forever demonstrates His love! Praise the Lord today for His deliverance of your eternal soul!
