HANDWRITING/ANSWER THE QUESTION • IF YOU DON’T ANSWER THE QUESTION YOU GET NO MARKS. • IF WE CANNOT READ YOUR ANSWER YOU CANNOT GET THE MARKS. (the SQA wont spend as much time trying to decipher your work as we did!- trust us it was tough in places! If it takes 3 of us to work out your handwriting the SQA wont bother to try work out what you have written) • The number of points given should match the number of marks i.e 5mark Q= 5 points.
HOW TO IMPROVE (1)- EXPLAIN WHY • USE WORDING OF THE QUESTION. • You must EXPLAIN how one thing led to another e.g “explain why women got the vote?” EXAMPLES • The suffragettes posted letter bombs, acid on bowling greens...WRONG. This is describing. • The suffragettes helped women gain the votethrough their violent actions for example throwing acid on bowling greens BECAUSE This gained publicity making MPs talk about women getting the vote- CORRECT • Your turn- Pick another factor and have a go.

ANSWERS • Discontent of the WR- People did not like the WR so would vote for anything that promised to get rid of it/offered an alternative. • Treaty of Versailles/Stab in the back myth- As WR were tainted with reputation of November Criminals voters turned away from them and were more likely to vote for parties such as the Nazis who promised to get rid of the ToV • The Weimar Constitution- Made democracy look weak so they would vote for undemocratic Nazis/ PR gave Nazi’s a voice in Reichstag (Article 48&PR) • Wall Street Crash- People angry with WR at loss of savings so turned to extremist parties. • Hitler’s popularity/propaganda- Spread the influence of the Nazis and encouraged more people to vote for them. • Political Deals- Deal between Von Papen etc actually gave Hitler the Chancellorship NOT majority in the Reichstag.
