  2. Colony Founder • The colony founder was Peter Minuit. • The Duke of York gave the land to him since he was an honorable governor.

  3. Usage of the Land • Peter Minuit wanted to use the land for trade and to profit.

  4. Colony’s Significance • The colony’s significance to early America was that it was the start of a civilization.

  5. Nickname • If I could have given the Delaware Colony a nickname, I would have named it “The Civilized Colony” because it was the first colony and it started a civilization.
