How the founder ended up owning the land. General Oglethorpe became the founder of Georgia because he went to king George and said he wanted to help the unfortunate poor. King George then gave him land to start a new colony in 1732.
Use of the land The purpose of the land was to provide refuge for prosecuted protestants and a military presence between other colonies, and for Spanish and Florida inmates to begin a new life.
Colonies significance to early America The Georgia colony was the only colony that prohibited slavery, and received financial aid by vote of parliament.
Nickname for the colony A nickname for the Georgia colony could be the cotton colony. Many of the settlers got land which they cleared to grow cotton
