  2. Class Organisation • Mrs McGenity - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon • Mrs Thomson - Wednesday morning, Thursday and Friday • Groups for Reading, Writing and Maths • Afternoon groups for Foundation Curriculum • Any problems, please speak to us

  3. Learning Logs • Homework activities will be given each week to be completed for the following week • Activities will be related to work going on in the classroom • Responses to the activities should take no more than a double page of the book • Any style is welcome – pictures, writing, diagrams, labels, mind maps etc • Reading, Spelling, Tables in addition

  4. Investors in Pupils • We continue to work on this initiative in school • Class Charter – decided and agreed upon by pupils • Personal targets decided by pupils each term • Class target – weekly • Class Budget

  5. English - Reading • Guided Reading Monday and Wednesday mornings – can you help please? • Independent Reading – books changed Monday, Wednesday and Friday – children should be reading every day, books and reading records should be kept in book bags every day please

  6. English - Writing • Range of genres covered each term • Fiction • Non fiction • Poetry • Drama • Role Play • Handwriting • Phonics and Spelling

  7. Maths How maths is taught • Mental starter • Main teaching • Independent work • Plenary Activities include: • Written work • Computer activities • Maths games • Whiteboards Tables – x2, x10, x5

  8. Library • Year Two change Library books on Wednesday • Please make sure Library books are in book bags • Children are encouraged to choose a variety of books

  9. PE this term • Indoor PE each Monday afternoon • Outdoor PE each Wednesday afternoon It is essential to have PE kit in school • Indoor – white / navy tee shirt and shorts, black plimsolls • Outdoor – white / navy tee shirt, jogging trousers and sweatshirt, trainers • Sent home each half term for washing • No earrings please

  10. Targets • Children have targets in Reading, Writing and Maths • Agreed with pupils verbally and in writing • Targets shared with parents at Parents’ Evenings in November and Spring • Children decide on their own personal targets – displayed in the classroom

  14. Extra-curricular activities • A number of clubs are available for Year Two pupils to enjoy - ICT, Choir, Eco club, Cookery(Summer) • Letters are emailed home about the opportunities
