  10. How does MASS MEDIA support the development of these categories? CLOTHING: Television and magazines portray what men, women, and children should be seen wearing. SOCIAL NETWORKING: Mass media spreads trends such as Facebook and MySpace using advertising on the internet. MUSIC: The radio is a medium and by radio stations playing certain types of songs, that type of music becomes popular. TELEVISION: When a company wants you to watch their TV show, they make a promo to rope you in. Mass media’s job is keeping the audience up-to-date with what’s in so people can go out and buy it.
