Han Dynasties Western Dynasty Eastern Dynasty 25AD-250AD In the year of 25, Liu Xiu, a descendant of Western Han royalty defeated Wang Mang This then formed into the eastern han dynasty Overall, its economical, scientific and cultural development surpassed that of the Western Han. Armillary Sphere invented by Zhang Heng • Was under the reign of Emperor Gaozu • Second imperial dynasty • Capital-Chang’an • Was established after the Qin Dynasty • Taxes were cut • Productions were encouraged • Labor was reduced

(221-207 BC) • Was a legalist(someonethat feels they have to control every aspect of peoples lives.) • Established spy system meaning he had citizens spy on each other • There were 36 provinces • Persecuted scholars and destroyed books • Took land away from nobles • Forced labor to create the Great Wall of China • Standardized money system

  4. Qin Dynasty Continued • First united multi-nation • Power centralized state in Chinese history • Qin Shi huang and his son HuHai • Standardized weights and measures • Stipulated that the round coin with a square hole should be the coin used in the country • He had the power to everything
