  2. Kielce - city in Poland, the capital of Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. Situated to the south of Warsaw and having a population of 210,000.

  3. Market Square Finding remnants of Kielce’s 900 years worth of history is easy; the city is dotted with historic monuments. The best place to get to know the city is the Market Square with its collection of fine buildings.

  4. Cracow Bishops’ Palace A branch of the National Museum, the Cracow Bishops’ Palace (17th c.) is the most important city sight. Of unique value are painted plafonds and walls.

  5. Cathedral in Kielce The Cathedral facing the palace was originally Romanesque, but the present-day building dates from the 17th century.

  6. Sienkiewicza Street in Kielce is the main commercial and historic "artery" of our city.

  11. As well as being the economic, cultural and educational centre of the region, the scenically located city of Kielce is an attractive spot for people wanting to enjoy plenty of fresh air. The city also has many green areas where you can relax and play, and there are even a number of walking routes for you to try if you feel more ambitious. Kielce gives you the opportunity to rediscover nature, for there are five nature reserves within the city’s suburban area.

  14. Swietokrzyskie Mountains (Holy Cross Mountains) Are a mountain range in central Poland, in the vicinity of the city of Kielce. The Swietokrzyskie Mountains are one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe.

  15. Holy Cross Mountains The name, Holy Cross Mountains, refers to a Christian relic from a nearby Benedictine monastery on Lysa Góra. It is a small piece of wood from the Holy Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified.

  16. Swietokrzyski National Park is famous for the restitution of the Common Yew (Taxus baccata), which population at present amounts to 1,300 trees. From among which 674 trees are considered as nature monuments. The Park fauna is represented by over 4000 species of invertebrate and 210 species of vertebrate, including 187 species protected by law.

  17. Paradise cave The cave „Raj” (Paradise cave) is one of the most beautiful dripstone caves in Poland. It is located in the vicinity of Kielce and is one of the highlights of Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The 180 meter tourist route leads through galleries and chambers ornamented with stalactites, stalagmites and columns.

  18. Ruined Castle Checiny A small town at the foot of a hill topped by a ruined castle Checiny from the turn of the 13th century, which used to be one of Poland’s most splendid fortresses. Today the castle is just a ruin providing nice views over the Swietokrzyskie Mountains.

  19. The nearby village of Tokarnia has a skansen of the regional country architecture with farm buildings, manor house, windmill, granary, chapels and crosses.

  20. „Oak Bartek” Bartek is an ancient oak tree in Poland. It grows in Zagnansk near Kielce in the Swietokrzyskie Mountains. Its age has recently been established at 625 years. There are three older oaks in Poland, though none so famous as Bartek.
