Setup for pC scattering – the RHIC polarimeters inside RHIC ring @IP12 beam direction Ultra thin Carbon ribbon Target (3.5mg/cm2, 5mm wide) 6 1 5 2 Si strip detectors (ToF, EC) 3 4 Beam direction 2 ´ 18 cm all Si strips parallel to beam RHIC ´ 2 rings • most modifications to electronic chain implemented • extensive “target” debugging over last summer targets Made in Indiana (narrower, thinner, better …); new holder with 6 targets • vacuum: should have addressed most issues • DAQ for Blue, Yellow, and JET fully decoupled • installation: will start next Tuesday • bring to full operation: 2 – 3 weeks from now POLARIMETRY

  3. Manpower issues • brought up several times in the past: so far no progress ! • 2005 analysis will stop cannot prepare for 2006 run (software development) and analyze “old” data • need two persons for Q&A during the run POLARIMETRY

  4. 2006 polarization data • ONLINE -> CDEV: based on scaler mode (as in previous years) • Reanalyze each measurement in event mode in real time: • Q&A • Calibrations • Systematic studies For this need two persons taking polarimetry “shifts” Update in CDEV or by different means ? AIM: “preliminary” polarization soon after the end of the run • Target scans • relay on target hardware rather than software target “controls” • currently being developed • Want more? Time to ask now ! Will try to make everybody happy POLARIMETRY
