FCM - MPED Program • Municipal Partners for Economic Development (MPED) • Program 2010-2015 • Total Budget: $24.2 Million • $18.4 Million - CIDA • $5.8 Million – In-Kind Contribution (FCM & Partners) • Support: Vietnam, Cambodia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Nicaragua and Bolivia • Provide more effective: Local Economic Development (LED) • Total duration of initial phase: 18 months • Travel, accommodation and meals costs covered by FCM / CIDA

  13. March 2011: Inception Mission Partner Selection Objectives: 1. Allow Canadians 1st visit selected Districts/Municipalities, including 1st meetings with counterparts(Districts/Municipalities/Provinces) 2. Complete the selection of process of Cambodian Sub National Administration partners 3. Introduce Canadian examples and new ideas on LED to NLC/S and its members / future collaboration

August 2011: 1st Mission: Beaumont – Kohthom • Collected baseline information • 170 000 people • 86% of District’s economy is agriculture • 56% of crops are rice • Major employers in the District include: • Garment factory • Casino / hotel • Competitive electricity rate (imported from Vietnam) • 60% of population and 7 out of 11 communes are located in a disadvantaged area of the District (East side of the District) • District flooded 6 months \ dry for 6 months. Impact on agriculture. • Districts 1st experience with International partners

January – February 2013 – 2nd Mission: Beaumont – Kohthom – (CURRENT MISSION) Objectives: • Remind stakeholders objectives Demonstration Project / LED Strategic Plan Priorities • Status meeting with Steering Committee • Identify opportunities: environmental and gender considerations • Continue to develop relationships • Access needs and opportunities; • Provide assistance, support, training and capacity building 3 key focus areas of LED Strategic Plan;
