  2. Materials • 2 empty soft drink cans • 100ml of water • A friend/relative

  3. Method Step 1: Carefully pour all the water into one can. Make sure your friend doesn’t see you do this. Step 2: Politely invite your friend to come try to balance a can on it’s bottom ring. Make sure you give the can to your friend with no water,they will find no matter what they do they will be unable to balance the can. Step 3: After their unsuccessful attempt. Take the can that has water in it and try balance it on it’s bottom ring. What do you observe?

  4. Result Your can which is the can that has water should balance while your friend’s or relative's can, shouldn’t balance and fall over.

  5. Conclusion Your can stays balanced because the centre of gravity is right in the middle of the can. When you tilt the can, the water in the can will move it’s position. This also means that the centre of gravity will also move its position while the water moves its position. When you try balance it diagonally on the can’s bottom ring, the centre of gravity will move directly above the point where it has been balanced. This makes the can balance on the bottom ring.
