  1. Wrap-around Labels

  2. Things to consider when designing wrap around labels for cylinders. • What information belongs on the front? • What part of the label becomes the front? • Where should the seam be located? • How is information organized and made visible within large text blocks?

  3. What information belongs on the front? Since the front of the container is what people see when the product is on the self it should display the most important information: What the product is Product name Important product information

  4. Which part of the label becomes the front? The entire label might be 8 inches long, but only part of that length is visible when the label wraps around the can. Be careful the product name doesn’t disappear around the sides FancyFea FancyFeast

  5. Where should the seam be located? • Since the seam is generally visible it should never go through the front design. • Most designers will place the seam either to the right or left, just out of sight when the container is facing forward . • Another consideration regarding the seam is how it matches or aligns when the two ends wrap around, meet and overlap.

  6. How is information organized and made visible within large text blocks? Uses: Bonds most porous materials such as paper and cloth, and semi-porous materials such as wood and pottery. To open/close: Twist cap to open. Always close tightly and store upright. Applications: Use on clean, dry surfaces over 60 F. For paper, cloth, etc. spread thinly-press-let dry. For wood, pottery, etc. spread heavily-weight or clamp, wait 35 minutes (overnight for full strength). Clean-up: Use a damp cloth before glue dries. Not: Not for photos, bare metal, submerged or heated surfaces. USES: Bonds most porous materials such as paper and cloth, and semi-porous materials such as wood and pottery. 7. Not all wrap-around labels are designed to cover the entire cylinder. In many cases, when the product is appealing to look at, the designer will let the product show through. • Some products, as the one displayed, may use more than one label.
