  2. All about our class…… • WHAT? Students building a community to enrich and engage each other through fellowship and service • HOW? By educating our fellow students through active learning in service opportunities • WHY? Knowledge, community, reciprocity

  3. How we’ll market our class…. • Information on the UCO website • Social Media- Facebook Account/E-Blast • Speakers During Campus Tours • Flyers post around campus • T-Shirts • Information in Student paper • Information via campus radio station • Information available at Volunteer and Service Learning Center

  4. Who will facilitate class…. • Dr. Frush • Alumni in Organizational Leadership Program • Independent study for ORGL majors

  5. What will the student get…. • T-Shirt • Transportation to and from the facility • Two credit hours • An enriching experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life

  6. What will happen…. • On-line opens two weeks prior to service • Week 1 - Complete on-line survey (SurveyMonkey) • Week 2 – Write a bio about each of the five organizations listed. Think when, what, why and how? 1. Fine Art Institute 2. Infant Crisis Institute 3. Positive Tomorrows

  7. What will happen….(cont.) 4. Faith Works in the Inner City 5. Young Life • Week 3 – Introduce a discussion: • What was your favorite organization and why? • Week 4 – Class meets at 6:00 pm Discuss the merits and opportunities of Infant Crisis Center and Positive Tomorrows Class divides into two groups depending on their interest

  8. Some of the jobs may include: • Sorting, matching, and hanging clothing • Assembling diaper packs • Assembling toddler and infant packs • Outdoor jobs: Beautification of lawn, flower beds, sweeping parking lot and picking up trash. • Stocking food, diapers, and formula in warehouse

  9. Chaperone a field trip to the Fine Arts Institute • Children's Theatre • Junior Theatre Company • Youth Impressions Juried Art Show • Edmond Youth Chorus

  10. Course Wrap-up… • Meet at classroom after volunteer opportunity • Write and share reflection paper within groups • Write and post individual reflection paper online
