History • Use of e-learning has been visible since the 1960s. • In 1960, the University of Illinois initiated this first • In the early 1960s, Stanford University experimented this with using computers to teach math and reading to young children in elementary schools in East Palo Alto, California. • Educational institutions began to take advantage of the new medium by offering distance learning courses using computer networking for information.

  4. Truth BEHIND Internet has started reshaping education. Education will not be the same in the next decade There is no going back. The traditional classroom has to be transformed

  5. Business IN E-LEARNING E-learning market will swell Rapidly by 2015 . Only about 5-10% of the world’s population have taken an on-line course. E-learning is still new. Many softwares have been developed by different companies for interactive boards used in e-learning. e.g:- APACHE, JAM etc.

  6. Education Market will be “big” A big growth is expected in the education market. In Malaysia, with one university in 1957 to over 21 public and private university Student population in colleges increase from 2,32,000 at the turn of the century to 13 million today The Indian Army will be establishing an online educational portal shortly and hope to enroll 15,000 to 20,000 of its army personnel for a degree programme. The future soldiers will not be carrying guns but Computers!!!!
