  2. Highlight of Current Activities (1/2) • TTA proposed 2 candidate Radio Interface Technology (RIT) for IMT-Advanced to ITU-R WP5D. (October 2009) • IMT-ADV/7: Acknowledgement of candidate submission from TTA under Step 3 of the IMT-Advanced process (IEEE Technology) ☞ 5D/560 • IMT-ADV/8: Acknowledgement of candidate submission from 3GPP proponent (3GPP Organization Partners of ARIB, ATIS, CCSA, ETSI, TTA and TTC) under Step 3 of the IMT-Advanced process (3GPP Technology) ☞ 5D/566

  3. Highlight of Current Activities (2/2) • TTA PG707 (Independent Evaluation Group of ITU-R) submitted two preliminary and two final evaluation reports for IMT-Advanced candidate technology. (February 2010, June 2010) • Two preliminary evaluation reports toward WP5D 7th meeting (FEB. 2010) ☞ 5D/652 : 3GPP LTE Release 10 & beyond (LTE-Advanced) ☞ 5D/653 : Based on IEEE 802.16 • Two final evaluation reports toward WP5D 8th meeting (JUN. 2010) ☞ 5D/739 : 3GPP LTE Release 10 & beyond (LTE-Advanced) ☞ 5D/740 : Based on IEEE 802.16

  4. Strategic Direction • Important activities for the consensus building were accelerated during the WP5D 8th meeting. • The Step 6(Review to assess compliance with minimum requirements) • PDNR ITU-R M.[IMT.RSPEC] • [IMT.RADIO] will be finalized at the next meeting. • In compliance with the time schedule of ITU-R, it is necessary that ITU-R WP5D should finalize the standardization for the IMT-Advanced successfully.

  5. Challenges • The activity for Beyond IMT-Advanced was also started. • Working document for [IMT.UPDATE] • The new era for Beyond IMT-Advanced will be in need of the much more frequency band due to the explosive increase in data traffic. • Spectrum for mobile services will not be sufficient around year 2020 • Further activities toward WRC-12/15 are necessary to secure necessary spectrum for IMT services

  6. Next Steps/Actions • TTA would like to proposes that GSC • encourages the work for the finalization of the standardization on IMT-Advanced within ITU-R. • encourages the investigation and study on the future IMT activities among PSOs. • encourages efforts to secure globally harmonized spectrum for IMT services
