  2. TIA continues to actively support the ITU IMT Standardization Activities by: Providing input on IMT-2000 technologies based on ITU-R and ITU-T Liaisons to External Organizations Participation in ITU-R WP 5D Provide updates to Recommendation M.1457, along with related and non-related Recommendations and Reports Provide updates ITU-T, as necessary [see marvin] Remaining actively engaged in IMT-Advanced development IMT Standardization Highlights 2

  3. Continual updates are provided in support of ITU IMT Standardization Activities. Provide input/updates on ITU-R Recommendations M.1801, M.1457-10, and M.1457-11 Significant updates to M.1457-11 to include: Guidelines for using cdma2000 1x Revision E Features on Earlier Revisions cdma2000 Extended Cell High Rate Packet Data (xHRPD) Air Interface Specification Enhanced Variable Rate Codec, Speech Service Options 3, 68, 70, 73 and 77 for Wideband Spread Spectrum Digital System Recommended Minimum Performance Standards for Extended Cell cdma2000 High Rate Packet Data Access Terminal Recommended Minimum Performance Specification for Mobile Stations with Position Service Minimum Performance updates for 1x, HRPD and xHRPD IMT Standardization Highlights 3

  4. TIA Inputs on the following: Revision M.1580/M.1581 (Unwanted emissions specification of IMT-2000 BS and MS) Revision M.2039 (Characteristics of IMT-2000 Systems for Frequency Sharing/Interface Analysis) Study Questions ITU-R 250/2 (Mobile Wireless Access (MWA) Systems supporting ubiquitous sensors across large areas F.2086 (Characteristics and Applications of Broadband Wireless Access in the Fixed Service) Correspondence with ITU-T SWG2 on Civil Alerting Question ITU-R 101-4/5, Working Document Towards a Preliminary Draft New Recommendation ITU-R M.[WAS.QoS] IMT Standardization Highlights 4

  5. TR45.5 will continue to collaborate with other Standards Organizations and Market Representatives Enhancements to Interworking Specifications in support of other technologies (e.g., 3GPP LTE) M2M (e.g., ETSI and 3GPP) Maintain cooperative relationship with Femto Forum and Broadband Forum, in partnership with 3GPP2 as it relates to Femtocells Partner with 3GPP2 and its Organizational Partners and Marketing Representation Partners Collaborate with other Organizations based on industry needs Strategic Direction (1) 5

  6. A few quick facts on cdma are noted and is based on information from http://www.cdg.org/. cdma2000 has more than 575 million 1x subscribers and more than 163 million HRPD subscribers As of September 26, 2011, 2,856 devices have been introduced into the market Strategically, the cdma2000 family of standards will continue to: serve operators well into the next decade provide support for a graceful transition to next-generation wireless broadband technologies developing solutions to ensure that cdma2000 devices, networks and roaming provide a seamless usability across cdma2000 and 4G wireless technology platforms Strategic Direction (2) Facts on cdma 6

  7. Increase capacity while maintaining: service quality and system coverage to satisfy market demands Enhance data throughput and reduce latency to accommodate existing and emerging data services Significantly enhance battery life for M2M terminals Reduce infrastructure power consumption. Continue to meet industry requirements for emerging markets Challenges 7

  8. TR45.5 will continue to Develop new technologies and services Develop standards that enhance: Machine-to-Machine Communications Smartgrids Self-organization Networks (SON) Continue to further our Green Initiative Recognize and acknowledge emerging markets and continue to develop key requirements and feature enhancements for such markets Work closely with regulatory bodies to provide solutions for: Commercial alerts, Emergency notification, New frequency plans, TR-45.5: Next Steps/Actions 8
