  1. How does the UK cope with floods? Aim: To know what organisations are involved in reducing the risk of flooding in the UK

  2. There is no easy way to cope with floods. Rich countries like the UK can afford schemes that help reduce the damaging effects of flooding.

  3. The Environment Agency is an organisation that looks after rivers in England and Wales. It monitors rainfall, river levels and sea conditions 24 hours a day. This information is used to predict the possibility of flooding. If flooding is forecast, the Environment Agency’s Floodline issues warnings. It also gives advice on what to do before, during and after a flood.
