  1. Spectrophotometer

  2. An instrument for measuring the intensity of light of a definite wavelength transmitted by a substance or a solution. Visible Spectrophotometer U.V Spectrophotometer

  3. Electromagnetic spectrum

  4. A spectrophotometer measures how light interacts with atoms or molecules in a sample.

  5. Components of spectrophotometer A spectrophotometer consists of a light source , a prism that separates the light into different wavelengths, a slit through which a narrow beam of the desired wavelength passes, a sample holder, a detector , and a recording device

  6. Effect of concentration on absorbance

  7. Beer Law • Beer Law states that there is a linear relationship between the absorbance and the concentration of a sample. A = = L [C] More dissolved substance = more absorption (A) and less transmittance (T)
