The Parable of the Tares Matt. 13:24-30 • Parable: something thrown alongside • Tares: plants that look like wheat but aren’t • Similar to parable of the sower but different • Explanation of both after purpose for parables • Both emphasize individuality • Other parables are collective effects of kingdom • Sower: same seed, different soils • Tares: same soil, different seed

The Parable of the Tares Explained Matt. 13:36-43 • Jesus is the sower of good seed • The field is the world (not the church) • The devil sowed the tares • Good seeds are sons of the kingdom • Tares are the sons of the devil • Harvest is end of the world • Angels are the reapers • Have to live among wickedness but not partake
