TYC Learning and Development – Acute Services • Service Changes 2-3yr • Changing profile of acute services – Clinical Networks • Streaming of services – short stay services • Expansion in some specialties e.g.Urology and Orthopaedics • Growth in rapid access assessment – especially older people. • Expansion of diagnostic and treatment services e.g. PCI • Increasing role for Specialist Nurses  • Learning Needs 2-3yrs • Adaptation programmes – moving from hospital to community care • Preparation for expanding specialties – e.g. urology, orthopaedics • Community nurses –acute care technical skills • Expansion in and succession planning for CNS roles • Preparation for new roles – Elective Care programme – Endoscopy and Bowel Screening • Expanding Band 3 HCA roles – underpinning knowledge for new skills. • Skills and confidence building in Acute nurses in caring for critically ill/high dependency care
