  4. Bottom Line • It is never okay to be hurtful. • It is never okay to be disruptive.

  5. Redirect • Gentle reminder of what is expected. • Teacher asks • “Can you …even though…?” • Student responds • “Yes” by saying “Yes.” • “No” by shrugging shoulders, rolling eyes, nodding head, ignoring teacher, arguing, etc.

  6. Safe Seat • Area in the classroom used to focus and problem solve. • Procedure: • Gather materials • Walk quietly to safe seat • Work quietly • Fill out a “Think Sheet” (What’s Up? Sheet) • When ready, see teacher to process.

  7. Buddy Room • Area in another classroom used to focus and problem solve. • Procedure: • Check in with teacher before going to Buddy Room • Gather materials • Walk quietly to Buddy Room • Work quietly • Fill out a “Think Sheet” (What’s Up? Sheet) • When ready, see teacher to process.

  8. Recovery Room • Safe place to receive help and problem solve with a caring adult. • Procedure: • Check in with teacher before going to Recovery Room. • Gather materials • Walk quietly to Recovery Room • Work quietly • Fill out a “Think Sheet” (What’s Up? Sheet) • When ready, see teacher to process.

  9. Think Sheet / What’s Up? Sheet • Tool used to problem solve and accept responsibility of own behavior. • Procedure: • Write name and date • Read and Think about the questions • Answer honestly and thoroughly • Bring with you when you are ready to process with teacher

  10. Processing • A conversation where you problem solve with the adult in the room where the problem occurred.
