  1. Ice Cap Newscast Reporting on the Ice Melt

Procedure • Gather facts, statistics, and evidence for ice melt • Use laptops and class page articles or other reliable sources • Create an outline for your presentation • Brainstorm/prewrite on the back of your handout • Write a script/dialogue • 2 students per group • Multiple exchanges of dialogue

  3. Procedure • Record your newscast • During class tomorrow • Will use flip cameras or Mr. Tran’s camera

  4. Requirements • Identify 3 regions of the world where the ice melt problem is occurring • Provide 3 reasons why ice melt is dangerous • Remember to back up with facts/statistics • No works cited page required, but when using facts/statistics, cite them during your newcast • Ex. According to the environmental protection agency, 1 in 4 ducks is in danger of losing a wing • Suggest at least 1 solution to the ice melt problem including a step by step plan • See whiteboard for an example • Use class powerpoints for information about the three solutions proposed during class or feel free to choose a unique solution

  5. Grading/Due Dates • See handout for rubric • Script- Due tomorrow (beginning of period) • Recording- Due by end of period tomorrow
