  2. Proposal to replace existing provision in clause 5.2.9. ‘Handholds’ impeding passengers exit from SbS’s. (Action: Peter Tetteroo) • 3.41Hand Hold – A readily accessible device mounted securely to the vehicle that can be encircled by the fingers of one hand for the purpose of holding on.

  3. Proposal: 5.2.9 Passenger seat and handhold(s) SbS vehicle shall be provided with a handhold(s) located in the compartment for each designated seat position. If the steering control is a wheel it shall be considered a handhold. The design of the seat together with the handhold(s) shall enable the passenger to maintain a stable position during travelling and not be impeding dismounting. The handhold(s) shall be designed to withstand, without permanent deformation, a force of 550 N applied statically to the centre of the handhold in a horizontal plain and equally distributed over a length of 100 mm. Compliance shall be checked by inspection to demonstrate that it meets the above requirements.
