AYURVEDA, Yoga & TRMPRE-HISTORIC LEGENDS OF HIMALAYAs • Commencing from the dawn of human civilization. • Earlier text Vedic period, pre-historic, Buddha time, Historic and present era. • Prehistoric time 52 eminent Scholars, Rishi and experts gathered in the Himalayas and performed meditation, and discussed and compiled ayurveda. • The objective of Ayurveda, Yoga & TRM is to achieve the highest goal of life, the inner and outer dynamic harmony. • Found in number of manuscripts, books, healing practices, in cultural functions and ceremonies, and the teachings and practices of ayurveda physicians, yoga practitioners & traditional healers. • knowledge of healing is in most of houses and known as grand mother recipe in this country.

  7. The Health – Disease Continuum Health is more than the absence of disease. There is a wide range of experience between health and disease where a person can be considered neither well, nor really sick. The health status of most people in today’s society fall somewhere within the two points of the continuum.

Background of exploration of knowledge of these sciences in Nepal • Research : many researchers have visited Nepal since British colonial times in India, specially seeking medicinal plants, and methods and skills of healing practices • Services:People from more than 110 countries come for therapies • Yoga & Buddhist learning

Scope & importance in the broader global perspective • These are globally accepted systems and practices (most of these). • Areas include: • Research: medicinal plants, practices, knowledge, food/diets, • Therapy services: peoples are visiting for ayurveda, yoga, tantric & TRM healings etc. • Educational trainings, tours, courses, ayurveda, yoga, folk healers, diets/foods • Ecotourism- in herbal gardens different altitudes

Institutions/ Resources • Rich in biodiversity: • more than 3500 medicinal plants, • more than 6000 hand written manuscripts, • Nearly 400000 peoples are the knowledge holders these systems • 50-8848 meters altitudes, alpine to tropical climate. • A very old civilization, many ethnic groups, many traditions, mostly evolved in nature.
