  1. TIB contribution for the X5 - May 2003 Test Beam C. Civinini On behalf of the TIB Community C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  2. Outline • Why to be in this beam test? • TIB System Test and Test Beam interplay • Equipment • What to measure? C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  3. Motivations • System Test validation by using 25 ns beam mips • Measurements with full optical readout • Power Supply prototypes tests (100 m cables) • (Almost) Final TIB Layer-3 shell mechanics C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  4. TIB System Test and Test Beam interplay • All components will be already debugged and validated @ System Test • Modules • At least 2 strings of 3 modules each • Electronics • AOH • 1 Electro-optic converter (may be one more) • 2 FED (may be one more) • Digital Optical-link • 1 FEC • 2 CCU25 • 1 TSC • 2 Mother cables (or more) C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  5. System Test C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  6. System test (2) C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  7. System test (3) C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  8. Mechanical Structure Ventilation Beam Vetronite Cover Box 1 meter Pedestal Basement Cover locks 60 cm C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  9. Shell movements (La Guillotine) C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  10. Measurements with full optical readout • Standard tests with (almost) final readout • S/N • Cluster width • Inter-strip cross-talk • Inclined tracks • Overlap between modules • Noise correlations • High density environment (jet like) • Signal vs hit position • Etc … C. Civinini INFN-Firenze

  11. Monitoring • On-line • Fast feedback during debugging phase • Some volunteers available • On-site • Crucial feedbacks to the data taking • Experience from past Test Beams • Support to the general analysis for the 3 systems (TIB, TEC and TOB) • See Ian’s talk C. Civinini INFN-Firenze
