Faculty Recruitment New Appointment File Requirements • File must be updated when candidate is selected • For a beginning appointment no less that three letters should come forward with the file. • For tenured appointments, some extramural evaluation should be sought from referees familiar with the UC system

Faculty Recruitment New Appointment File Requirements • For tenured appointments both the department and the candidate should suggest names for referees. • The number of letters sought should be comparable to the number sought for advancement to the same rank. • Avoid seeking too many referees having close associations with the candidate
