  1. SIN Ecclesiastes 7:20

  2. For there is not a just man on earth who does good And does not sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20

  3. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 • The glory of God or part of His glory is perfection. A life without sin. Who sins?

  4. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. – 1 John 1:8 • “deceive ourselves” – some try to convince themselves they have done nothing wrong • “In what way…” – Malachi 1:6-7; 2:17; 3:8 - defiled temple, wearied the Lord with words, robbed God Who sins?

  5. Do infants sin? And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. Genesis 8:21 Ezekiel 18:19-20 Who sins?

  6. Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. – 1 John 3:4 • “Whoever” – a Christian or a NON-Christian • “Lawlessness” – is breaking the law, breaking the law is sin. • The Law is God’s Law & Commands What is sin?

  7. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. – James 4:17 • “who knows” – the person who has the knowledge of good and evil, right and wrong • “good” – that which is right, that which is in agreement with God’s commands and laws. • “does not do it” – the person who knows what is right and chooses otherwise commits sin. What is sin?

  8. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, Colossians 3:5-9 What is sin?

  9. Colossians 3:5-9 • “your members which are on the earth” – a reference to different sins or different types of sin. • “Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,” – because of sin God’s wrath and judgment is coming upon those who are disobedient those who are living in sin. What is sin?

  10. Colossians 3:5-9 • “But now you yourselves are to put off all these…” • Put off sin because sin is lawlessness (1 Jn 3:4) What is sin?

  11. Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. – Isaiah 59:1-2 What are the Consequences of Sin?

  12. Isaiah 59:1-2 • “is not shortened, that it cannot save” – God is able to save anyone • “but your iniquities have separated you from your God” – sin is what separates us from God. • “your sins have hidden His face from you” – it is your sins that keep you from God and salvation. What are the Consequences of Sin?

  13. Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full- grown, brings forth death. – James 1:13-15 What are the Consequences of Sin?

  14. James 1:13-15 • “drawn away by his own desires and enticed” –it is our desires that cause us to sin; desires that are not in agreement with God’s Word. “Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full- grown, brings forth death.” What are the Consequences of Sin?

  15. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23 • Sin brings death (James 1:15); but God desires for man to have eternal life. • Sin has the ability to deny us God’s gift. What are the Consequences of Sin?

  16. Since everyone commits sin, everyone has to decide what to do about their sin. We have seen who sins (everyone), what sin is (lawlessness) and what the consequences of sin is (death). Are you willing and ready to solve your sin problem? It must be handled! What about you?
