The 2017–2021 strategy will see funding allocated through seven investment programmes based on the types of customers they will help Sport England reach. 7 investment programmes are: Tackling inactivity Children and young people Volunteering The mass market The core markets (including talented athletes) Local delivery Sports facilities Sport England Funding

  13. Community Asset Fund • “Want to help local organisations to create financially sustainable facilities that benefit their community for years to come” • Sport England are looking for lots of different sports clubs and community organisations with great ideas to create, or improve, opportunities to play sport. Examples of people they are looking for: • A community organisation looking to take over a sports facility that might be under threat of closure or is underused. • A sports club that wants to expand or improve the sporting experience you offer your customers. (e.g. improve changing rooms, installing new toilets or creating new social space) • People who simply have a great idea for a project, like making physical improvements to a building or open space, that’s clearly needed • in the local community. • Welcome applications for all organisations • Opening: 30th January 2017 • Timeframe: no deadline (open all year round)

  14. Community Asset Fund • Won’t fund: • Revenue only projects • Routine maintenance and repairs resulting from wear and tear • Retrospective funding( paying for work already completed) • Projects funded in the past • Football only project/ small scale cricket projects • How much can you apply for: between £1,000-£150,000 • Small Scale: £1,000-£15,000- help address emergency work or something totally unexpected that is stopping people from being active right now • Medium Scale: £15,000-£50,000- help upgrade existing facility or develop new space in the community • Large Scale:£50,000-£150,000- organisation can demonstrate a • considerable impact or are targeting under-represented groups. • Simplified initial application form: will ask for information about • your project, no supporting information needed at this stage

  15. Partnership Funding • Sport England want to create more resilient, sustainable, less grant dependent sport sector therefore expect you to attempt to secure some local funds or finance. • Don't expect to receive applications that are seeking a grant for the total project cost or that haven't explored other sources of funding first as see themselves as last resort • If your community backs your project and has been prepared to put its hard-earned cash behind it – be it the corner shop, Residents Association or Parish Council – then your project will be in a much stronger shape and stand more chance of being funded by them. Contributions like these show Sport England • that people locally are backing you.

  16. Awards for All • From the website: • “We want to fund projects which address the issues, needs and aspirations of local communities and people. We will fund a wide range of community projects aimed at developing skills, improving health, revitalising the local environment and enabling people to become more active citizens.” • Project must hit 1 of the 4 outcomes: • People have better chances in life – with better access to training and development to improve life skills. • Stronger communities – with more active citizens working together to tackle issues within the community. • Improved rural and urban environments – which communities are able to better access and enjoy. • Healthier and more active people and communities.

  22. More Funding Options… • Crowdfunding • Crowdfunding is a way of raising finance by asking a large number of people each for a small amount of money. • Typically, those seeking funds will set up a profile of their project on a crowdfunding platform and then use social media, alongside traditional networks of friends, family and work acquaintances, to raise money.
