  2. About the teacher...30years of teaching experience, Tallahassee Native, FSU Grad, former Buck Lake parent, committed to helping your child learn and enjoy school!

  3. Reading Grade • 50% - Test Grades • 30% - Quiz Grades • 10% - Classwork Grades • 10% - Homework Grades

  4. Parent Portal • Each grade entered serves as teacher/parent communication of your child’s progress. You can download the FOCUS app or access online through Class Link. 

  5. Accelerated Reader Students are expected to reach 100% of their individual points each 9 weeks, with a cumulative quiz average of 80% or higher. Students have a bimonthly target to encourage steady pacing of reading throughout the quarter. Students are encouraged to check out a chapter book AND a smaller book on their level in order to continuously earn points. Students are NOT penalized if they are not on “target.”

  7. Homework Policy • 1 Day Late: 70% • 2 Days Late: 0 • Students have one day extra for each day of an excused absence to submit their work.

  8. Wonders Test • Two Portions • 11 Questions = 24 Points • Multiple Choice (#1-#10) - Parts A & B = 20 Points • Writing (#11) = 4 Points

  11. Class Routines Wonders 10 day instructional schedule:  Day 1- Weekly skills/strategies/spelling words, etc. provided. Day 9- Weekly spelling quiz, vocabulary quiz every other week Day 10- Reading test USA Studies Weekly New newspapers distributed the first day of the week. Quiz on Friday. Students may use their newspaper and Think and Review questions on the quiz.
